vs Teachworks

If your week grows, Teachworks bills more for it. lessonu doesn’t.

USD per-student-lesson, hybrid base + per-event pricing. lessonu is flat-AUD per teacher with the classroom built in. The two products are aimed at the same buyer; the bill shape is the meaningful difference.

The numbers

Solo tutor, 18 students, four 1-hour sessions per student per month. 72 lessons / mo.

Teachworks

US$40.53 / mo

$16.49 base + 72 × $0.32 + ~$0.20 FX margin × 12 mo = ~A$760 / yr

lessonu

A$29 / mo

Flat. The 73rd lesson costs the same as the 1st. ~A$348 / yr.

↑ same school, same workload, two different bills.

How Teachworks prices

$16.49 USD / mo + $0.32 per student lesson. Three tiers (Solo / Standard / Plus). The base is small; the per-lesson fee is what compounds. USD only — your AUD card pays the FX every month. teachworks.com/pricing — verified May 2026.

What changes when you switch

Three things move.

01

Per-event pricing taxes growth

Teachworks bills $0.06–$0.32 per student-lesson on every plan. A solo tutor scaling from 12 to 22 students pays roughly twice as much in software the same year their workload grows. lessonu Solo is flat at A$29 / mo — the bill doesn't move when the calendar fills up.

02

AUD-native, GST handled at the schema level

Teachworks bills in USD. Your invoices to parents are in USD too unless you set up a custom locale; GST has to be added as a custom line. lessonu invoices are AUD by default, GST is a first-class column, and the BAS-ready totals are one query away.

03

Built-in classroom, not a Zoom add-on

Teachworks integrates with Zoom, Meet, and Lessonspace — all of which need their own subscription. lessonu runs the live classroom in-app: HD video, whiteboard, code editor, recording. One bill for the whole stack.

Honest section

Where Teachworks still wins.

A comparison that doesn’t admit anything is a sales sheet, not an analysis. Two places Teachworks is genuinely the better choice.

Teachworks is older and battle-tested

Ten-plus years of polish, an add-on marketplace with 60+ integrations, and the kind of small ergonomic bugs already smoothed out. lessonu launched in 2026; we'll catch up, but we haven't yet.
