The 14-day free trial
Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial. We don't ask for a credit card during the trial. If you don't add a payment method before the trial ends, your account moves to read-only — no surprise charge, no chase-up email cycle.
Cancelling a paid subscription
You can cancel from Billing in your dashboard at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep full access until then.
We don't pro-rate refunds for the unused portion of a billing period. If you cancel on day 3 of a 30-day month, you keep the remaining 27 days at the level you paid for.
When we do refund
We'll issue a full or partial refund in three situations:
- Duplicate or accidental charge. Email us within 60 days. We'll refund the charge in full and investigate the cause.
- Material outage. If the Service was unavailable for more than 8 consecutive hours during a billing period, we refund pro-rata for the outage window on request.
- You were charged after cancelling. If cancellation didn't take effect for any reason on our end, we refund the charge and any subsequent ones in full.
When we don't refund
Outside the three situations above, we generally don't refund:
- Unused time on a subscription you cancelled mid-period (see §2).
- Annual subscriptions partway through the year. You keep full access for the remainder; the prepayment is non-refundable.
- Charges from Stripe Connect payouts to a tutor's bank account. Those are between the tutor and their student or parent — not lessonu fees.
Nothing in this policy affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), including the right to a refund where a service is not of acceptable quality, doesn't match its description, or doesn't do what we said it would do. For New Zealand customers, nothing in this policy affects your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (NZ), including the guarantees of acceptable quality and fitness for purpose that cannot be contracted out of for consumer transactions.
How to request a refund
Email lessonu.team@gmail.com with: the email address on the account, the invoice or charge ID from Stripe, and a one-line reason. We reply within 2 business days and process approved refunds within 5–10 business days via the original payment method.
For disputes you'd rather not raise with us directly, you can contact the ACCC or your state consumer-protection regulator.
Chargebacks
We'd much rather hear from you than from your bank. If you file a chargeback before contacting us, we'll suspend the account while we investigate; once resolved, account access is restored. Repeated chargebacks may result in permanent suspension.
